In 2008, more than 2 million of Houston's population was without power after Hurricane Ike. Employees were displaced from their homes, roads were closed, and availability to basic daily needs were limited. Many businesses had to determine how to continue to do business in a less than ideal situation.
Companies that had prepared for such disruption were able to continue operating. For those that were not prepared, the situation negatively affected their bottom line, customer relationships, and overall business performance.
